What in the world is going on in the realm of political discourse? While we are busy eating our own, Dick Cheney is on Foxnews, The only real Channel stupid enough and with stupid enough followers to take his word as true, spewing disgusting and disturbing comments to Obama’s administration. The other networks are out, not calling him out on his hypocrisy, but repeating the comments as valid discourse.
I know the first thing the smart folk here will say is who cares, but I think we are throwing anger onto Obama for stuff Bush did. I hear folk saying that Obama tortured because he wont prosecute. Its almost as though we want this guy involved in political combat over prosecuting Bush instead of Health Care and Education and Energy. I, for one, didn’t vote for Obama to go after Bush. There is gonna be a devastating fight coming up over real issues and we are killing Obama and his poll numbers are creeping down as a result. Now the MSM has successfully turned an issue of law into an issue of politics and it shouldn’t have been. We should have allowed Obama to say that he didn’t want a prosecution while our lawyer, Eric Holder, Prosecute. Now the administration in a bad spot. Now all I hear about is how Obama is weak for caving to the pressure on the left.
More after the bump.....
While we go at Obama, the right is going at him too. Here is what happened today with Hill:
After this clever rebuttal, he came back..........
Rohrbacher quickly hit back, saying, "Dick Cheney has asked for specific documents to be unclassified. We are not asking for your opinion of Dick Cheney. ... If you want to maintain your credibility with us, what is your opinion on the release of those documents?"
Clinton ultimately did not answer the question, saying, "I believe we ought to get to the bottom of this entire matter. I think it's in the best interest of our country, and that is what the president believes, and that is why he has taken the actions he has."
Cheney told FOX News on Monday that the Obama administration should release classified documents revealing the results of aggressive interrogation techniques, so a more "honest debate" can take place about the efficacy of the practices.
"I know specifically of reports that I read, that I saw, that lay out what we learned through the interrogation process and what the consequences were for the country," Cheney told FOX. "I've now formally asked the CIA to take steps to declassify those memos so we can lay them out there, and the American people have a chance to see what we obtained and what we learned and how good the intelligence was."
In a write up for CNN, they used the Foxnews mess. I wish Democrats would recognize that Foxnews has chosen to go to war with this Whitehouse and they need to respond accordingly.
"I worry very much that we're in a situation now where there doesn't appear to be any limitation whatsoever in terms of the spending commitments that this administration wants to make," he said. "Vast expansion in terms of the deficit, but it also says a lot about what they intend for the role of government in this society."
White House officials have predicted the country's deficit will soar to $1.75 trillion this year, after the administration's efforts to bail out troubled financial companies and stabilize the nation's flailing economy. Obama has also pledged to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term, a promise critics doubt is possible to keep. (Related: Obama defends budget as essential to recovery)
But beyond rising deficits, Cheney said he is concerned the administration is fundamentally "redefining that relationship between government, on the one hand, and the private sector on the other."
"I'm one of those people who believes that part of the greatness of the United States is our private sector. "It's what we do as private citizens for ourselves and our companies," he said, later adding, "I think we have to be very, very cautious. I think we've gone beyond what reasonably we could expect by way of intrusion into the private sector."
Paul responded in a manner I think all Democratic Officials should.
The laughable statements coming from these men and that really shameful and disingenuous breaking news headline, these guys are nuts. No one seems to notice, but Bush called a meeting to further deal with his legacy. He put Cheney out to do what Cheaney is doing.
And I offer my further confusion as to why it has taken so long for Gov. Sebelius to be confirmed. While we focus on going after Obama the repugs are going after nominees. The Dems are in control and it makes no sense at all. Now the repugs are gearing up and has hit her with this:
Calling her a politician with "serious lapses of conscience and integrity," a group of conservative leaders sent a letter Wednesday to senators urging members to oppose the nomination of Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius for secretary of health and human services.
Leaders of the Family Research Council, Concerned Women for America and Focus on the Family called on senators who "claim to uphold the sanctity of life and the responsibility of the office of HHS" to vote against her. This comes one day after a committee voted 15-8 in favor of sending her nomination to the full Senate.
"Gov. Kathleen Sebelius's lack of integrity during the nomination process, together with her extreme pro-abortion record clearly demonstrate that she is unfit to serve as secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services," the letter states. "Americans want and deserve better than a health care system run by a politician with serious lapses of conscience and integrity."
the left can be such a force,I just wish we knew how to focus the battles.
